CAA CAP 3088 - Consultation on the requirement to publish information on mishandled mobility aids

The CAA is considering introducing a requirement on airlines to publish information on mobility aid transportation, and the incidence of mobility aid loss, delay and damage when being transported by air. We believe that being able to access this information would be beneficial to consumers, empowering consumers to make an informed choice about travelling with their mobility aid.

The CAA is frequently made aware of issues that passengers face when travelling by air. One such issue is the loss, delay or damage of mobility aids while being transported.

The loss, delay or damage of a mobility aid can have a profound impact on an individual’s independence, particularly if they are unable to use their mobility aid for an extended period. In addition to the personal consequences, such loss, delay or damage may result in significant direct (repair or replacement) costs and consequential financial loss.
